Distressed and abandoned properties have plagued North Baton Rouge neighborhoods for decades. The long-term effects of red-lining, white flight and municipal neglect, have resulted in diminished property values and blight. CCNI is committed to working on removing blight through theacquisition and rehabilitation of both residential, as well ascommercial properties in North Baton Rouge.
Homelessness, is more than just not having a roof over your head. It also severs individuals and families from community and a place to belong. The CCNI transitional housing model has been designed to reintegrate those in need of housing through a community based process rather than an institutional one. The process is suitable for homeless veterans, single parents with children and those in need of temporary shelter during difficult times.
Providing both facilities and support for start-ups and burgeoning businesses is a critical component in building a sustainable community. Project One Million Hands will offer both business incubation and skills training in the heart of North Baton Rouge communities. At CCNI we are devoted to building businesses and creating opportunities for entrepreneurs to thrive.
Living within a neighborhood that has been poorly maintained, or neglected not only diminishes quality of life, it can be demoralizing to the human spirit. When residence are faced with dilapidated housing, trash, poorly maintained infrastructure and limited resources, the result is a feeling of not being seen or respected. Creating access to safe, clean, well maintained and family friendly spaces has been made a priority of CCNI and will transform North Baton Rouge neighborhoods.
